Consultancy and Collaborations

I am always open to consultancy work and collaborations, so do not hesitate to get in touch if you are looking for expertise in the areas of menstruation, menopause, or gender/ health inequalities. I can advise on education, sustainability, communication, social media, advocacy, and journalism relating to health and gender.

I have worked closely with government, organisations, and schools in the areas of menstrual health and menopause. These collaborations have improved policy, inclusion in the workplace and communities, and menstrual education.

See below for some of my recent collaborations/consultancy projects.

Blood!

This project is a collaboration with Belszki (teacher and feminist theatre maker).

Drawing on findings from my research with 77 teenagers and Belszki’s expertise in teaching and the writing, production, and performance of research-informed theatre, this project aims to improve knowledge about menstrual health, reduce menstrual stigma, and empower people of all genders to talk about menstruation in mixed gender settings. To engage with audiences of different ages, this project created a primary school curriculum for years 5 and 6 (aged 9-11) and a comedy show, Blood!, that is targeted at individuals and organisations that support young people (e.g. teachers, city councillors, NGOs, charities and parents).

So far, the five period lessons have been taught at one school and have already had a positive impact on the children and the school's culture around menstruation. You can request the impact report on this website from the 'menstrual education' page or get in touch with me directly.

Blood! has been performed in Sheffield.

Menstrual Health Education

This project is a collaboration between DiverseCity Development Trust, Cysters and Irise International which seeks to empower Muslim and Sikh communities through community consultations, menstrual health workshops, tailored menstrual health resources, and creating community menstrual health champions.

We have hired women from Muslim and Sikh communities to deliver menstrual health education to women in their local areas which includes delivering workshops and then training other women to be menstrual health champions.

After consulting with Muslim communities in Sheffield and Rotherham about what they would like to learn about periods and menstrual health, we have created 4 menstrual health resources on the following topics

1) Period pain management and self-care

2) How to ask for help (e.g. advocating for yourself at the doctors')

3) Menstrual Health and Nutrition

4) Period products
